Standoff Ends Peacefully

On March 2nd, at 12:45 am, the Gila Co. Sheriff's Office received a call from a rep. from Horizon Human Services who relayed that Gregory Deer of Globe claimed to have a weapon & was threatening to kill someone. Deputies responded to the area, & with the assistance of the Globe PD evacuated the immediate neighborhood & secured the area. The Dept. of Public Safety SWAT was called to assist, & when they arrived a rep. & DPS Negotiators began talking to Deer. After a short standoff with officers, Deer was taken into custody without incident. Deer was transported to the Gila Co. Jail where he's being held on 2 counts of Threats and Intimidation & a medical hold until he's been seen by Horizon Human Services.
