Globe-Miami Flag Day Celebration

The Globe-Miami Flag Day Celebration will be at the Globe Community Park (near Besh-Ba-Gowah) at 2 pm on June 14th. This is an old-fashioned, family-friendly celebration of our great nation and its flag.A bipartisan voter registration drive will be conducted by the Gila County Voter Registration Office.A barbeque will be catered by Hogg Haven, tickets will go on sale May 14th.A horseshoe tournament conducted by Knights of Columbus Council 1158 has been scheduled.The Globe Fire Dept. will have their hook and ladder truck with a huge American Flag on display.The Globe PD will conduct Vehicle Identification Number etching on car windshields to deter car theft and assist in stolen vehicle recoveries. They will also be doing Ident-A-Kid.The ladies of Holy Angels Church will cater homemade desserts.The Globe HS JROTC will be taking part in the ceremonies and also selling bottled water and sodas.Other fun and games, like a water balloon toss, sack races, and a watermelon eating contest, conducted by The Cobre Valley Republican Club have been planned. There are other events groups that in the works.The event itself will be free and open to the public. Other events conducted by other community organizations are encouraged and welcomed.
