"Tip a Cop" Event On May 13th

In remembrance of our fallen heroes during National Peace Officer Week, members of the Mesa Police Association will take their oath to "serve" & protect to a new level. On Tuesday, May 13th, from 6 pm - 8 pm, officers will be trading in their handcuffs & badges for menus & serving trays to assist servers at the Mesa Riverview Famous Dave's. Every tip they receive will be donated to Mesa Police Association's Officers Assistance Fund.

"Officers are sworn 'To Protect & Serve' our community & with that dedication comes a certain amount of risk," explained Fabian Cota, President of the Mesa Police Association. "Many times when officers are injured on the job, they need additional assistance throughout their recovery to support their families."

The MPA Officers Assistance Fund (O.A.F.) was designed to alleviate the financial strain that officers & their families face after a work related injury. The Fund was inspired in part by the mission of the MPA, to further the rights & benefits of Mesa Officers.

"This is an opportunity for the community & Famous Dave's to support the Mesa men & women who work so hard to keep us safe & to support thefamilies of fallen heroes. What better way to get to know our neighbors & enjoy the absolute best barbeque in a fun, family-friendly environment," said John Erlandson, Managing Partner of Desert Ribs LLC, the Phoenix-area franchisee of Famous Dave's Bar-B-Que.

"Tip a Cop" is one of the ways the Mesa Police Association & Famous Dave's are paying tribute to fallen heroes during National Peace Officer Week. Throughout the nation an annual tribute is dedicated to honor the lives of the fallen law enforcement officers. "The men & women who give their lives in the line of duty will never be forgotten for their heroism," said Julie Shelley, Vice President of the Mesa Police Association.

The public is encouraged to attend this event, or go to
