Clean Up On Broadway Road In Mesa Continues

Work continues at the site of the water line break that closed Broadway Road on Monday. Clean-up efforts will be ongoing through the end of the week as crews from the Utilities Department work in the neighborhood south of Broadway between Spencer & Solomon to remove mud & debris from driveways, sidewalks & the roadway.

Today, the Transportation Department removed the damaged asphalt & prepared the ground for new asphalt. Traffic is restricted to one lane in each direction on Broadway Road. The size of the damaged area of asphalt is approximately 30' x 100'.

Asphalt paving will begin on Thursday morning, & the lane restrictions will remain until Thursday afternoon when the new asphalt is drivable & the barricades are removed.

The final asphalt repair related to the water line break is a 4' x 8' patch of asphalt on Broadway Road at the intersection with Solomon where a valve has been repaired. This work is minimal & will require a few hours of temporary westbound traffic restrictions after the morning rush hour.
