Rep. Rick Renzi sent a statement to the National Republican Congressional Committee with his decision if he’ll be seeking re-election in 2008. He has been under investigation for a shady land swap deal involving a former business partner, a federal inquiry into his family's insurance business, & his ties to the firing of one of the eight U.S. attorneys that was investigating him for the land deal.
This is what he had to say:
"I will not be seeking re-election to the U.S. House of Representatives in 2008. I am honored and thankful to serve Arizona's first district and appreciate all that we have accomplished together over the past 6 years."
