Kelty Campaign Supporters On The Receiving End Of Fraudulent Calls

On June 15th, Kara Kelty's campaign began receiving reports of fraudulent telephone calls from concerned Kelty campaign supporters. They had started to receive calls at their homes from someone claiming to be from the "Signature Verification Department". That is, in reality, a non-existent department.

Workers on Kelty's campaign were told that this was a "dirty trick" that is typically used as part of an effort to challenge a candidate's nominating petitions. In most cases, those behind the effort, oftentimes an opposing candidate(s), will go to great lengths & expense to hide their identity.

If you receive one of these calls here's what to do:

1. Record the call if you can.
2. Make a note of any caller ID number that shows up.
3. Ask the caller for their name and make a note of it.
4. Calmly ask the caller who they work for. If they refuse to answer, ask that they have a supervisor call you & refuse to answer any of their questions.
5. Email, michelle@karakelty.com, with the time & date of the call & name of the person who called you.
