Gila Community College has just completed work on a new certificate of proficiency that offers a great opportunity to learn about diabetes prevention & how to manage the disease in the event an individual has been diagnosed with the disease. The diabetes-specific curriculum is also relevant to any patient/population confronting this disease. The Community Health Advocate program is applicable to both entry-level positions & experienced healthcare professionals. The program emphasizes new information on the disease process & recent developments in prevention & management of diabetes.
The certificate includes the following course work: HCE 102-Preventative Stages of Diabetes, HCE 103-Transcultural Advocacy for Diabetes Prevention, & HCE 105-Introduction to Diabetes. In addition, the student will complete HCE 100-Basic Health Care Concepts & Skills & HCE 112-Medical Terminology & HCE 108-Preparing a Therapeutic Diet.
