An American Red Cross center is open at the Tonto Basin Elementary School, One School St., in Tonto Basin for residents evacuated from the west side of Tonto Creek. Those areas currently evacuated include the Lazy Junior RV Park, Sleepy Hollow RV Park, & Fosters RV park. Portions of the east side of Tonto Creek, specifically the Roosevelt Gardens East subdivision were evacuated due to the quickly rising waters. Residents on the east side of Tonto Creek are isolated due to flooding & evacuees are currently sheltered in private residences. The latest information regarding the return of power to Tonto Basin from the Gila County Division Emergency Management & Public Health Preparedness was that 11 o’clock tonight was the estimated from APS.
Tonto Creek isn’t expected to recede anytime soon, the run-off waters will continue to keep the waters high.
