Gila Community College announces that scholarship applications are now being accepted at the Gila Pueblo Campus for both the Electrical & Instrumentation and Industrial Plant Technology Apprenticeship programs. If selected, the student will have tuition and books paid for as well as part-time employment in the mining industry during the 1st year. During the 2nd year, the student (apprentice) transitions into full-time employment. Upon completion, an Associate of Applied Science Degree is earned.
The Gila Community College Skill Center (the old armory building in Claypool) will house the classroom & laboratory training. Classes are taught by industry tradesmen. Gila Community College is 1 of 3 community colleges in Arizona offering these apprenticeship programs. “Our successful partnership with the mining industry is one that all of Gila County can be proud of”, notes Robert Ashford, Chairman of the Gila Community College Governing Board.
