Mentors Needed

Mentors are still needed for hundreds of Arizona foster children. Every day more of these kids ask for someone to help them with homework or to just spend personal time with them. You can help by becoming an Aid to Adoption of Special Kids (AASK) Special Friend. It only takes one day a month. These volunteers mentor, tutor & give advice; helping children improve their school work as well as social & coping skills.

“It takes just a little time to help a child,” said AASK Special Friends Program Coordinator Hydee Landes . “Every volunteer mean one less child waits for the help they need,” she added. These are kids who have no parent or adult to show them they are special.

State statistics show a mentor or tutor helps improve foster kids performance in school & markedly helps with their ability to establish behaviors & goals that continue later in life.
