Catalina State Park and Citizens for Solar present "Festival of the Sun, Solar Potluck and Exhibition" from 10 am to 8 pm on Saturday, April 26th.
Arizonans all know it really is hot enough to fry an egg on the sidewalk in July, but did you know you can bake cookies in the park in April? This year marks the 26th annual community celebration of the sun. Experience the flavors of solar-cooked food & enjoy solar-powered music, family activities, solar appliances & exhibitions (ovens, fountains, coolers, lights, water heating, electrical systems) & solar arts. It will also feature live-music on the solar-powered stage, children's activities & discussion/lectures with community experts at The Tea House of the Rising Sun with the potluck dinner at 5 pm.
Bring your own oven & join them for cooking (oven set-up by 9:30 am) or if you do not cook with us, visit us and bring some "solar" food to share: salad, watermelon, berries, etc. Ice is always welcome. Bring your own eating utensils (plate, bowl, fork, spoons, etc.) & help make Tucson's Solar Potluck a waste-free event. Make sure you wear comfortable shoes, a brimmed hat & sunscreen. New this year is a food drive to benefit the community food bank. Please bring a non-perishable food item.
Citizens for Solar invites the community into solar culture, & introduces the community to renewable energy solutions by bringing people together.
