Free Energy Efficiency Workshop In Mesa
City of Mesa Housing Services is hosting a free workshop on ways to make homes more energy efficient. The four-hour workshop begins Monday, June 22nd, at 8 am in Building 3, Room 127 at 200 South Center St. in Mesa.Whether you are considering a small home improvement to save energy, a major renovation or are looking for low cost-no cost ways to reduce your utility bills, this workshop will help.The presentation is geared towards the “do-it-yourselfer,” but tips for hiring a contractor to do the work are also discussed. Home improvement topics to be covered include finding and sealing air leaks, insulation, air conditioning and heating, lighting and appliances, electronics, windows and doors, landscaping and water heating systems. Other topics include new technologies for energy management and information about federal and state tax credits and utility rebates.The workshop will conclude with a discussion about photovoltaic solar energy systems and what to consider if you are thinking about having solar installed for your home.The workshop will be presented by Kirsten Shaw, a BPI Certified Professional and Home Energy Rater with Advanced Energy Efficiency and Environmental Quality (AE3Q), in Mesa.
