Garms Park Rededication Tomorrow
Garms Park at the corner of 4th Street and Velasco Avenue in Hayden is set to be officially rededicated in Hayden tomorrow morning at 11 am. Officials speaking at the event include Mayor Monica Badillo of Hayden; State Representative Barbara McGuire (District 23); State Representative Frank Pratt (District 23) and EPA Representative David Cooper. Also present will be officials from the mining company ASARCO, including Tom Aldrich, Vice President of Environmental Affairs and Joe Wilhelm, General Manager of Hayden Operations. The public is also invited to participate in the festivities.The newly renovated Garms Park promises an enjoyable recreation area for families to visit. The park had new soil and sod placed as part of a three-way agreement with ASARCO, the State of Arizona and the Environmental Protection Agency. In addition, the playground equipment and walls in the park were repainted. The remediation crews also added extra touches, including new rubber mulch around the climbing equipment.Free hot dogs and refreshments will be served at the event, which is open to the public.
