30 Eloy Homes Rehabilitated

Some residents in Pinal Co.’s Housing Division Section 8 housing will weather the seasonal changes much easier thanks to a public-private partnership. Thirty multi-family homes located in Eloy were rehabilitated by the Community Action Human Resources Agency (CAHRA) as part of a special project by the organization.

Before the rehabilitation could occur an audit was performed on each of the units which included carbon monoxide testing, room pressure testing, zonal pressure testing & blower door testing. The results of the audit found a problem area with the duct work in many of the homes. Once the audit was completed, work started on removing the evaporative cooling units & replacing them with efficient air conditioners & heat pumps. Each of the homes will be visited by an energy conservation counselor to show them how to use an air conditioner versus an evaporative cooler.

District 1 Supervisor Lionel Ruiz inspected one of the homes that had been refurbished & was impressed with the scope of work done to make sure the houses were energy efficient.

To help complete the project, Arizona Public Service generously donated $95,000 to CAHRA for the home rehabilitation.
