Pinal Co. Road Improvements Start Oct. 18th

Road improvements to Hunt Highway & Felix Rd. in Pinal Co. will start on Oct. 18th. The road improvements will have a lasting effect on the roadways, but will cause motorists some delays over the next 3 weeks.

On Oct. 18th, the work will begin along the Hunt Highway corridor from about 1000 feet west of the intersection with Attaway Rd. to the vicinity of Largo Road or approx. 2 miles east of Attaway Rd. The intersection of Attaway Rd. & Hunt Highway will restrict right turns onto eastbound Hunt Highway from Attaway during the scheduled 2 days of construction at the Hunt Highway/Attaway intersection.

A pilot car will facilitate vehicular movement during this 2 week period during construction operations. It’s anticipated that this work will be completed by Nov. 2nd. Variable Message Boards have been placed warning motorists of a potential 10 minute wait.

After Hunt Highway is scheduled for completion, work will begin on Felix Rd. in front of the Wildhorse Estates (a county subdivision) from Pinto Dr. to Twin Spurs Rd. Felix Road will be open to “Local Traffic Only” vehicular movements during their one week period with work to be completed by Nov. 9th.

The work entailed with these projects involves full width (2-lane) roadway improvements consisting of milling of existing pavement, overlayment of existing roadways, & selective reconstruction of the roadway section.

Motorists planning on traveling these roads are urged to drive with caution & within posted speed limits, wear seatbelts & have a safe journey. Please note that weather &/or unscheduled construction may alter these scheduled dates. They will attempt to you informed of major schedule changes.

The Town of Florence is alerting the public that detours will be effect, construction operations & lighting will be noticeable. The project will benefit the public by eliminating deteriorated road conditions funded by the Highways User Tax Fund (HURF) and the ½ percent Transportation Excise Tax. They appreciate your patience while they work towards improved pavement conditions at these locations. Contact the Florence Public Works Dept. at (520) 868-7620 with any questions or comments.
