On March 24th, 2008, at 1525 hours (3:25 pm), a detective with Flagstaff's Police Dept. contacted the Gila County Sheriff's Office in reference to a missing person, Terry Neil Himmerick, age 54. The detective advised the last time Mr. Himmerick's cell phone connected with a radio tower, it connected with the one on Mount Ord. Gila County deputies, with the assistance of DPS, searched the area throughout the night, but had negative contact with Mr. Himmerick or his vehicle.
At approx. 0530 hours (5:30 am) on March 25th, 2008, Tonto Rim Search and Rescue was deployed to the area. They searched the area by Jeep and all-terrain vehicle, while DPS Ranger assisted with a search from the air. At 1001 hours, DPS Ranger located Mr. Himmerick's vehicle wrecked, off Reno Pass Rd., near Mount Ord. Terry Himmerick was found at his vehicle, deceased. It appears he was ejected from the vehicle. An investigation into this incident is ongoing.
