The 24th Annual Apache Jii Celebration is in downtown Globe on Sat., Oct. 13th, starting at 9:30 am, but booths will open from 9 am - 5 pm for this event. Vendors of jewelry, baskets, paintings & other traditional art work are coming from all over the Southwest for the day-long event. Crown dancers, hoop dancers & flute players will perform in the intersection in front of the old courthouse on Broad St.
Nikki Dickenswill be singing the national anthem in Apache:
The Yellow Bird traditional dance group will be on hand for performances during the day & San Carlos flute player Nobert Allen will perform.
San Carlos hoop dancer John Sneezy will be performing on this day as well:
Crown dance groups from local schools will also be on hand throughout the day.
Visitors can enjoy traditional Apache foods such as acorn dumplings, acorn stew, fry bread & Indian tacos.
There is no admission charge for the event, which is put on by the Globe-Miami Chamber of Commerce, with the help of sponsors Golden Eagle Distributing, Waddell and Reed, SCATUI, Bank of the West, APS, & the City of Globe.
