Attention Boy Scouts in the Gila District!!!

This year’s Gila District Fall Camporee will be Oct. 26th & 27th & will be held at or near the Oak Flat Campground just off of Highway 60.

To get to the Camporee site:

From Globe – Miami take Highway 60 west toward Superior. From Superior, travel Highway 60 east toward Miami. Right at mile post 231 you will see the sign for Magma Mine Road. This is the road to the Oak Flat Campground. Turn (left coming from Miami, right coming from Superior). The road may be marginal but with care can be negotiated by most all vehicles. The camping area is spread out in the flat area on the left at the bottom of a gentle downhill. Pick a spot and set up your campsite.

Special Note! This is a public camping area and if it is too full, we may have to move a distance from the established campground. Signs WILL be posted if this is the case.

Even though we may be in a camping area with facilities, all camping will still follow the guidelines of “Leave No Trace.

Cost for the Camporee remains unchanged from previous years - $5 per Scout under age 18 & $3 per person 18 & over. The funds go to pay for the ribbons that are awarded & the patches that each person receives.
