The Florence Community Library will observe Children's Book Week from May 12th to 18th. This year's theme is "Fuel Your Mind".
Children's Librarian Rita Marquez says, "During Children's Book Week, libraries everywhere encourage young people, their parents and caregivers to discover the complexity of the world beyond their everyday experience".
Marquez says, "We invite families to turn off their televisions and hold their own read-in at home. Each family member can bring a favorite book, magazine, comic book or newspaper to their family circle. The purpose of Children's Book Week is to show children that everybody reads".
New children's books are on display in the children's reading section of the library all week. If you are looking for a favorite book, check with a librarian.
The library is located on the campus of the Florence High School at 1000 S. Willow Street, in Florence. It is open Monday through Thursday from 7 am to 8 pm, Friday from 7 am to 4 pm, & Saturday from Noon to 4 pm.
