Sunday Morning Wildflower Walk At Round Mountain

Hedgehog cacti are in full bloom, delphinium are blooming, and night-scented stock perfumes the trails at Globe's Round Mountain Park. Learn to identify some of the common wildflowers on a guided walk Sunday, May 4th, at 8 am with local resident Kim Stone. Round Mountain Park near downtown Globe is arguably the best local spot for late April and early May color. Walk the easy hiking trails to see hundreds of vivid magenta Hedgehog cacti blooming this week. Sego lilies (Calochortus nuttalli) are abundant this year, and paleface delphinium as well. Round Mountain Park admission is free, & no reservations are required to join the guided walk with Mr. Stone -- just show up at the visitor center at 8 am.

Round Mountain Park is near the crossroads of Highways 60 & 70 -- turn north at the Country Kitchen restaurant, & drive the dirt road uphill past the Samaritan Veterinay Center. For maps or directions around Globe call the Chamber of Commerce toll-free at 800-804-5623 or email
