7th Annual Governor’s Volunteer Service Awards Nominations Being Accepted

Gov. Janet Napolitano & the Governor’s Commission on Service and Volunteerism are currently accepting nominations for the 7th Annual Governor’s Volunteer Service Awards, considered to be the highest volunteer awards in the state. Since 2003, Governor Napolitano has recognized the outstanding contributions of volunteers who've given through service to the people of Arizona.

"Every year, thousands of Arizonans give their time and energy to important needs and causes across the state,” said Gov. Napolitano. “I look forward to seeing this year's nominees.”

Nominations will be accepted through Jan. 11th, 2008 and will be considered for the following categories: youth, youth groups, adults, adult groups, service-learning practitioners, national service members, small businesses and large businesses, nonprofit organizations & a lifetime volunteer. Any individual or group that has demonstrated exemplary commitment to service in Arizona is eligible to be nominated.

Ten recipients are honored each year with the Award, one in each of the aforementioned categories. Panels of statewide judges select the recipients based on the following criteria: need, action, innovation & impact.
