Free Afternoon of Manicures, Makeovers and More for Teens Facing Cancer
WHAT:
Teen Pamper Yourself Day: Back by popular demand! Teens are invited to spend a luxurious & indulgent afternoon getting their makeup done, trying out new hairstyles, enjoying manicures and pedicures & sampling the many delights of being pampered in style. A professional cosmetologist will provide makeovers & tips for makeup application at this popular annual event, which is planned by & for teens living with cancer. Lunch will be served.
WHEN/WHERE:
Friday, January 4, 1–4 p.m. Free. On the grounds of The Wellness Community, 360 E. Palm Lane near downtown Phoenix.
WHO:
Teenagers whose lives have been affected by cancer are invited to a day of pampering & discussion at The Wellness Community. Every year, more than 250 Arizona teenagers are diagnosed with cancer. The Wellness Community provides people living with cancer & their loved ones with the other half of cancer care - education, support & hope. TWC offers a broad array of teen programs, including orientation & support groups, educational events, arts & crafts workshops & stress management classes focusing on relaxation & visualization, meditation, yoga, t’ai chi, journaling & writing for wellness.
In 2008, The Wellness Community will host more than 8,000 visits from people with cancer and their loved ones at its professionally-led support groups, educational workshops, nutrition & exercise seminars & stress reduction classes. This national not-for-profit organization, with a regional facility in Phoenix, also provides free, drop-in programs six days a week in a home-like environment.
