Andrea Morin, 11, & Cassandra Tallman, 8, submitted the winning entries for the AASK Mother’s Day Essay Contest. They were chosen from dozens of essays from children who have been adopted from the Arizona foster care system.
Andrea, who is from Tucson, wrote about her mother, Kesha, “My mom is like air to a person, a beat to the heart….to me my mother is someone to be proud of. My mother is love, hope and kindness…the light at the end of the tunnel.”
Cassandra, who lives in Tempe with, says, “I love my mom. She is so special to me. One day I might be just like my mother when I grow up. I love being with my mother. We will never ever stand apart.” Cassandra’s mother is Wanda.
Andrea & Cassandra each won a prize package for their mothers which included a day of house cleaning from Bella House Cleaning and Merry Maids, Cerreta’s Candy & a piece of personalized jewelry from Schmitt Jewelers.
The AASK Mother’s Day Essay Contest was open to any child adopted from Arizona’s foster care system. Finalists who each won a certificate to Cold Stone Creamery were:
