Mesa Mountain View Academic Decathlon Team Shines In National Competition

The United States Academic Decathlon National Competition was April 30th - May 3rd, in Garden Grove, California where teams from all over the country competed in the National Competition. The theme for this year was the Civil War. The goal is to promote, motivate & acknowledge excellence in academic efforts & educational achievement through a program of academic competitions for high school students of all scholastic achievement levels. Arizona has one of the most competitive programs in the nation & our teams always place high at the national competition!

Results from the National Competition:

Mt. View scored over 50,000 points & placed 3rd in the large school division & 4th in the overall competition, behind California, Wisconsin & Texas. They took home 11 individual medals along with one student in the varsity division with a bronze in the Ten Event Top students. As a team they also took 3rd place in the Super Quiz.

In the end the top 2 overall teams were only separated by 23 points and that was out of over 53,000.
