The Globe Miami Gun Club will host a women’s only handgun shooting clinic on May 13th, at 4:30 pm, at the Gun Range on 2675 Bixby Rd. The clinic is open to all women age 16 & older who wish to learn how to handle handguns safely. Attendees may bring their own firearm to the class to learn how to clean & shoot it in a controlled environment.
Firearm instructors will present a safety course prior to the live fire exercise. The participants will learn how to clean, load & unload the firearm. The Women on Target clinic will supply all ammunition & targets used at the class. If a woman wants to take the course but doesn’t own a handgun, loaner firearms will be provided by the instructor coaches. No men other than the instructors will be allowed at the range during the clinic.
Pre-registration is required in order to provide the correct size ammunition for each handgun. A fee of $10 per registrant is necessary to help cover the cost of ammunition & the dinner that will be served after the shooting clinic. The rest of the cost of the clinic is being covered by a Friends of National Rifle Association Grant that was received by the Globe-Miami Gun Club.
Each participant will be supplied with their own gun cleaning kit to take home & use to keep their firearm in good working order.
The class is limited to 20 students. Any 16 or 17 year old must have a waiver signed by their legal guardians or parents. Anyone interested in attending may call Mary Stemm at 402-8768, daytime or 425-3372, evenings to arrange for registration. Pre-paid registration is necessary to hold a spot in the class.
