Fall brings a slow down in adoption rates at animal shelters across the U.S., & Arizona's no exception. The Maricopa Co. Animal Care & Control (MCACC) can see up to 100 dogs come in every day. Last year, 40,000 were brought to MCACC. Some of these dogs were reunited with their owners, but, a lot of healthy, happy dogs were left waiting for a loving home.
MCACC is looking to send the pooches to a great home, & hopes to educate the public about the many ways that responsible pet guardianship can reduce pet overpopulation. For the entire month, MCACC has lowered the cost of dog adoptions at both the West (2323 S. 35th Ave. in Phoenix) & East Valley Animal Care Centers (2630 W. 8th St. in Mesa) to $85. The fee includes spay/neuter surgery, rabies vaccination, dog license & a dog coupon book with savings totaling $160.
Each new dog owner will automatically be entered into a raffle to win a $100 PETCO Gift Card. The 1st 100 adopters will get a free microchip for their dog, which is added security to ensure your pet gets back to you if lost.
