Got five questions you wish you could pose to a professional photographer? Gilbert artist Bob Estrin has a solo exhibition in the visitor center gallery at Boyce Thompson Arboretum during April and he will offer two separate lectures: April 13th, at 2 pm and again April 27th, at 2 pm. Spaces are limited & there is a fee -- funds raised will help support botanical research, education and outreach at the Arboretum, where the artist is a volunteer. Sign up in advance for a 2-hour "Q-and-A with the Artist" on Sunday, April 13th, a freewheeling afternoon in the lecture room where Estrin will answer photography questions emailed in advance by a dozen participants... and also show slides of his work & talk about photography from both film & digital cameras; post-processing, printing, & other topics -- a customized lecture entirely structured around what participants want to know, & supported by the artists' own photos chosen for relevant explanations. Cost to enroll is $17.50 (or $10 to BTA annual members); call (520) 689-2723 to sign up.
April 27th Workshop:
Pre-registration & pre-payment is also required for the 2-hour April 27th, part class, part "in-the-field" workshop on landscape photography. This session begins at 2 pm & will explore how digital photography is changing the way people take pictures, & will explain how to exploit features unique to digital cameras to enhance your photography. After a 45-minute slideshow & presentation in the lecture room, the artist will spend another 90 minutes exploring various Arboretum gardens, demonstrating photography & answering questions from participants. Bob Estrin is an award-winning artist whose works have been exhibited at the Arizona Museum for Youth, Chandler's Vision Gallery, Gilbert Municipal Court Building & Gammage Auditorium.
