The project, will essentially take place on & surrounding Globe's "Old Elks Parking Lot", located at the Northwest Corner of the intersection of North Pine St. & West Mesquite St. that's also bounded by Pinal Creek. This project should only last approx. 5 months (the beginning weeks of Sept.). The purpose is to remove the contaminated soil, transport it to the approved receiving sites, & replace it with backfilled and compacted soil and a reconstruction of the parking lot for future use.
Due to the involvment of material being loaded and unloaded, operations as an integral part of this major project, a part of Mesquite St. between Pine St. & US Highway 60, will be reserved for the APS' contractor hired for this project to better our community. The above segment of Mesquite St. will serve as a Westbound one-way street to protect the construction crews as well as the members of the public utilizing this segment of Mesquite St. Mesquite St. between N. Broad St. and N. Pine St. is already permanently designated as a Westbound one-way street.
