The Pinal County Public Health Services District has issued an advisory for animal rabies to all residents of Pinal County. A dead skunk was found in the Oracle area on April 3rd. On April 4th, the Arizona State Public Health Laboratory confirmed that the skunk was infected with the rabies virus. This is the sixth animal to test positive in Pinal County in 2008. All of the positives were from the eastern region of Pinal County with more activity in southeastern area. Following an investigation by public health staff no human exposures were identified.
Due to increased rabies activity in the Oracle area, a vaccination clinic for pets will be held on April 19th at the Oracle Justice Court, located at 1470 Justice Drive from 10 am until 1 pm. Shots are just $7.
Feel free to contact Pinal County Animal Care and Control for more information concerning rabies vaccination for pets and vaccination clinic times and locations at (520) 509-3555 or toll free at (888) 431-1311.
