Recycle For Reading Program To Help The City Of Mesa Library

Recycling not only saves the planet but now can also help raise up to a total of $25,000 to benefit the City of Mesa Library through the Recycle for Reading Program. For every additional pound of material Mesa residents recycle over last year’s total between now & June 30th, 2009, a direct contribution will be made to the library for the purchase of new library material. Reaching this goal is as easy as every Mesa household recycling just one extra pound of material per week.

Participating in the program is easy. Mesa residents are asked to simply place the following items into their blue recycle barrel at home:

Aluminum & Metal Cans
Glass Bottles & Jars
Newspapers
Office paper
Junk Mail
Milk & Juice Cartons
Telephone Books & Magazines
Cardboard & Paperboard
Plastic Bottles, Jugs & Jars

The public is invited to attend a special kick-off event on Wednesday, July 16th, at 9:45 am at the Mesa Main Library, 64 E. First St. Mayor Scott Smith will announce the full details of the program & will be joined by Councilmember Dave Richins to launch the “Just One More Pound!” outreach campaign.

For more information, residents may call the Mesa Recycling Hotline at (480) 644-2222 or visit cityofmesa.org.
