K-9 Officer At Globe Schools Project Wins LECC Public Safety Award

The K-9 Officer at Globe Schools (KOGS) Project won the Outstanding Contributions to Community Partnerships for Public Safety Award from the United States Attorney's Office, District of Arizona, Law Enforcement Coordinating Committee (LECC) on July 16th, 2008 at the LECC Awards Ceremony held in Flagstaff. The KOGS Project was recognized for their outstanding achievement for developing a multi-agency group or task force that exemplifies the cooperative goals of the LECC to establish community partnerships designed to address public safety. The innovative stategies of KOGS Project was the successful product of cooperative effort of the public, schools, & law enforcement to address a growing concern in our area of school safety and made the project an easy choice for the award.

Dr. Timothy Trent, Globe Unified School District Superintendent, Jennifer Kinnard, GUSD Director of Teaching and Learning, Daisy Flores, Gila County Attorney, representing the City of Globe and Globe Police Department was Sgt. Lee Kinnard and Officer Brian Hudson, as well as K-9 Dewey were present to accept this prestigious award that honored their extraordinary efforts.
