Chamber Mixer

Tuesday, Sept. 18th brings us the Globe-Miami Chamber of Commerce’s monthly mixer. The topics to be discussed are the bond issue and proposed sales tax. This is your chance to ask any questions you may have at the Gila County Courthouse from 5-7 pm. This mixer is open to all that would like to attend as this issue is very important. The architectural drawings and the three-dimensional model of the proposed construction will be on display. This is an informal event with plenty of staff on hand to answer questions.

The election seeks approval for remodeling of the Gila County Jail in Globe for $5.9 million and construction of new court facilities in Globe (with continued use of the current courthouse for county offices) for $7.75 million. In Payson, a new jail at a cost of $11.3 million and new court and administration facility for $6.5 million are sought. The jail facilities ($17.2 million) would be funded with a half-cent sales tax and the court facilities ($14.3 million) would be funded through a property tax levy. County officials have made several presentations on the proposals.

Light refreshments, courtesy of Gila County Public Works, will be served.
