P.F. Chang’s Rock ‘n’ Roll Az Marathon Kick-Off Party

The 5th annual P.F. Chang’s Rock ‘n’ Roll Arizona Marathon & ½ Marathon is just 4 months away & SRP EarthWise Energy is hosting a training kick-off party & run on Oct. 4th, from 5 to 8 pm at G.R. Herberger Park. Olympic gold & silver medalist Frank Shorter & Runner’s World columnist John “The Penguin” Bingham will lead guests on a 3.5-mile training run & walk.

This free, annual community event provides training tips & support to anyone interested in participating in the race on Jan. 13th, 2008. Runners & walkers of all abilities are encouraged to attend the kick-off party. Organizers will roll back race registration fees by $10 for those who sign up for the race at the party, & the first 100 people to register will receive a free training t-shirt.

Guests will enjoy music, a mini Health & Fitness Expo with booths geared toward training, games, raffle prizes, free food & refreshments compliments of P.F.Chang’s, NYPD Pizza & Michelob Ultra.

At 5:45 pm Frank Shorter & John “The Penguin” Bingham will conduct an interactive question & answer session before leading guests on a short 3.5-mile training run through the SRP canals.

For those who want to run for a cause, official charities will be on-site with info about their marathon & half-marathon training programs. Guests interested in participating with co-workers can learn more about the GET FIT Challenge & register their company team for the race.

SRP EarthWise Energy is inviting all of its customers to join the EarthWise Energy Team by donating $3 each month for a year to help fund renewable energy projects in the community. Anyone who signs up for the EarthWise Energy Team at the SRP Training Kick-off Party will receive a special goodie bag & running singlet valued at $50.
