The Bureau of Land Management (BLM) & the Congress Fire Dept. will be burning brush piles on Sat., Sept. 22nd on the west side of Highway 89 across from the county transfer station north of Congress. The brush piles are excess hazardous vegetation that local homeowners have removed from their properties during the year. This prescribed burn will reduce the threat from wildfires.
Fire personnel will ignite the piles when weather & vegetation conditions allow for safe burning. After ignited, the piles are expected to burn down quickly & residents should expect some light smoke in the area during burn operations but smoke is expected to disperse quickly. The brush may smolder for a few days however fire crews will continue to monitor conditions following all prescribed burn activities.
The BLM greatly appreciates your cooperation in protecting your public lands by helping to prevent unwanted wildfires.
