Grease Fire in Central Heights

At approx. 9:25 pm on Sept. 7th, the Tri-City Fire Dept. was sent to 5550 Glendale Ave. in Central Heights for a structure fire. Upon arrival, the first engine to respond discovered a 15' x 60' structure to be the reported structure. The fire had apparently started when the homeowner, using a grill, reportedly threw water on the fire when the grease caught fire. This allowed the fire to spread to the carport of the structure. The crews were able to contain the fire to the structure of origin which has an estimated total dollar loss of $10,000 for its contents.

Tri-City'sFire Captain A. J. Howell is crediting the new CAF'S (Compressed Air Foam System) for the fast knockdown of the fire which had been rapidly spreading upon the Departments arrival. Globe & Canyon Fire Departments assisted Tri-City, with a total of 21 firefighters used, with no injuries.
