Miami Memorial Library Closed

Old water pipes busted in the walls of the Miami Memorial Library causing the library to keep its doors closed yesterday. On Saturday morning, 1 - 2 inches of water was discovered to be covering most of the Bookstore room, the caretaker's apartment, librarian’s office, the newly remodeled Young Adult Room, & the circulation desk area. In order to stop the water from flowing even further into these areas, workers from the Town of Miami turned off the water at the main valve.

Due to the water having been turned off & the leak that still needs to be repaired. It is unknown when the building will reopen for business at this time.

The Miami Memorial Library would like to thank:

Fry’s Market Place, the Claypool Safeway, & Frank Skinner for graciously loaning them the much needed steam cleaners. Tom Foster of the Bullion Plaza Museum Board; Dr Jeremy Rowe (A.S.U.) a visiting historian; Elizabeth Eaton, Karen Webb, John Stemm, & Mary Stemm; along with young adults, Bernie Growley, Jarrett Amado, Eli Webb, Stephan Reyes, & Stephen Gerardo who worked about 6 hours removing hundreds of gallons of water from the building. Delvan Hayward would like to thank those responding to the need & appreciates the understanding of the patrons for putting up with the inconvenience of having their library closed.
