At about noon on Tuesday, July 1st, Pinal County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to an armed robbery on N. Sandy Drive in the Pecan Creek neighborhood east of Queen Creek. As a result, three suspects were arrested & booked in the Pinal County Adult Detention Center.
While driving on Penny Lane at Sandy Drive, a 42-year-old female worker on a mobile catering truck was flagged down by three Hispanic males. When the victim opened the truck to sell them drinks, one of the suspects told her to give him her money. When the victim refused, one of the suspects showed her a gun & she gave them all of the cash she had. The suspects then stole several energy drinks from the truck & left, & the victim drove to the 38000 block of N. Sandy Drive to report the incident.
The victim described the suspects & the suspect vehicle, a green 4-door sedan with a spoiler. A PCSO deputy responding to the original robbery call spotted a car that fit the vehicle & suspect descriptions at Bella Vista near the Brooks Turf Farm & held the suspects at gunpoint until other deputies arrived. Evidence of the crime was found in the suspects’ possession.
At the scene, PCSO Detectives interviewed the three suspects, who were later booked into the Pinal County Adult Detention Center. Daniel Barraza, 22, of Mesa, was booked on 4 felony charges of aggravated robbery, aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and prohibited possession of a weapon & probation violation. Andres Olivas Cigala, 24, of Mesa, was booked on 2 felony charges of aggravated robbery & armed robbery. Gerrardo Valenzuela-Navarro, 27, of Mesa, was booked on 4 felony charges of aggravated robbery, armed robbery, aggravated assault with a deadly weapon & prohibited possession of a weapon.
