State Transportation Board Meeting

The Arizona State Transportation Board will hold its monthly meeting Friday, July 18th, in the Town of Prescott Valley Council Chambers, 7501 East Civic Circle in Prescott Valley. A work session is scheduled at 9 am, during which Arizona Department of Transportation staff will brief the Board on the fiscal year 2009 budget.

The formal Board meeting is scheduled to begin at 9:45 am. Local officials & citizens will have an opportunity to address the Board during the meeting. Agenda items include:

· A contract to repave seven miles of Interstate 17 through Camp Verde from the General Crook Trail traffic interchange to the McGuireville traffic interchange.
· A contract to repave 5 miles of State Route 89 between Prescott and Chino Valley.
· A contract to widen State Route 89 to 4 traffic lanes with a center median in Chino Valley from the south city limit to Center Street.
· A contract to construct a new port of entry near San Luis.
· A contract to repave 10 miles of Interstate 40 from Dennison to 2 miles west of Winslow.

Bill Feldmeier represents Yavapai, Mohave, La Paz, & Yuma Counties on the Board. Feldmeier owns several Prescott area businesses, including a construction company & consulting firm. He is a former Yavapai County Supervisor.

Other board members include: Board Chairman Si Schorr of Pima County; Board Vice-Chairman Delbert Householder of eastern Arizona; Robert Montoya of northern Arizona; Felipe Zubia of Maricopa County; Bobbie Lundstrom of southeastern Arizona; and Victor Flores of Maricopa County.

About the State Transportation Board
The 7-member State Transportation Board has policy powers & duties in addition to serving in an advisory capacity to the Director of the Arizona Department of Transportation. Members of the board are appointed by the governor & confirmed by the Arizona Senate to 6-year terms. The board has broad authority to plan & develop Arizona’s highways, airports & other state transportation facilities. In addition to these general policy duties, the board is responsible for development & oversight of the state’s Five-Year Transportation Facilities Construction Program.
