Fire In Claypool Thursday Evening

A single story residential home sustained heavy damage in a fire of suspicious origin in Claypool Thursday evening.

The Tri-City Fire Dept. was dispatched to 5806 Grover Canyon at 6:49 pm. Firefighters on the first responding engine encountered heavy fire in a rear bedroom upon their arrival. Although they were able to prevent the fire from spreading throughout the remainder of the home, heavy smoke damaged the rest of the structure.

The home is occupied by Deserea and Ruben Lianoz and their 2 children. The 2 parents were at home when the fire occurred and the 2 children were reportedly at a friend’s home.

Although the fire is of suspicious origin no exact cause of the fire has been determined as of this release. The Globe Fire Department’s new arson dog “Frank” is being used to assist in the investigation.

Globe and Canyon Fire Departments assisted Tri-City Fire with fire control and were on scene until 8:25 pm. The Gila County Sheriff’s Office, Globe Fire and Tri-City Fire Departments are conducting the investigation.

There were no reported injuries to firefighters or the residents.
