The Town of Florence is beginning the process of updating its Downtown redevelopment plan. The consultant team commissioned by the Town, Otak, is holding a series of meetings on July 8th & 9th. The consultant, Otak, will collect ideas & info from members of the public, business community & various Town officials, to gain a better understanding of how to develop a plan to revitalize the downtown area.
Three sets of meetings are scheduled. Two of the meetings are by invite only & the third meeting is open to the general public.
* On July 8th, various civic groups, organizations, & Town boards & commissions are invited to give their input on how to update the plan.
* On July 9th, all businesses in & adjacent to the Redevelopment area are invited to discuss their ideas for downtown revitalization.
* On July 9th, at 7 pm a meeting is scheduled to collect comments from the general public.
Everyone that wants to provide comments & ideas on the process is welcome to attend. All the meetings are at the Florence Town Hall Council Chambers, located at 775 N. Main St.
The Downtown Redevelopment Plan is the guiding document for the development & revitalization of the downtown area. The plan was created in 1998 which established the redevelopment district. The boundaries were expanded in 2003 & 2005. This will be the first update on the goals, objectives & strategies for the plan since its creation.
