Bush Highway Project Update

On Mon., Sept. 10th, ADOT will resume the roadway improvements on SR 87 at the Bush Highway. The project consists of constructing a traffic interchange linking SR 87 & the Bush Highway, a.k.a. the Saguaro Lake Turnoff. The project will also widen approx. 8 miles of shoulders providing additional safety for motorists.

The work involves placement of concrete barriers in order to establish the work zone. The roadway will be reduced to one lane in each direction until Sept. 21st, for barrier placement & truck hauls. The restrictions for northbound traffic will continue until summer 2008. The speed limit will be reduced for the duration of the project.

The work will resume activities that recently inconvenienced many motorists traveling the SR 87 during the Labor Day Weekend. ADOT regrets the inconvenience that the public experienced & has revised plans to establish the work zone in an effort to reduce the impacts to travelers.

ADOT advises drivers to proceed with caution, obey all posted speed limit signs, & be alert for construction equipment & personnel.
